What is qi?

Qi (chi) is the universal energy within all living things.  It travels along pathways, called meridians, and permeates the body by way of the fascia.  Blockage and imbalance of qi flow may lead to discomfort, illness, and pain.

What is fascia?
Fascia surrounds and connects every cell in the body.  If all muscles and bones were removed, leaving only the fascia, you would be left with what looks like a complete body.  Fascia holds habitual body patterns.  Physical or emotional injury may cause it to become restricted and hard, called armoring.  Fascial release helps to remold it where it should be.  The healing process takes time and patience.  It often involves the client letting go of whatever may have caused the body to armor itself in the first place.

Why should I get Asian bodywork?
Asian bodywork deals with the physical as well as the energetic body.  It works to clear up any blockages and imbalances in the flow of qi.  When the energetic body is in balance, the physical will follow.  It provides a strong sense of well-being as well as its therapeutic benefits.

Do I have to remove my clothing?
No.  Dress comfortably.  Many people bring yoga or jogging pants and a t-shirt to change into.

Will I need more than one session?
Although you will feel good after your session, true change takes time and effort.  Asian bodywork works to change the root of the problems, not to just cover the symptoms.  It may take several sessions, and chronic issues often need ongoing work.  As issues are cleared up, others that were “hidden” by the intensity of the initial issue which brought you in may come to surface.  Patience, hope, and consistency are the key.

What if I’m running late?
Running late will take up precious massage time.  If you are over fifteen minutes late the therapist has the right to assume you are not showing up & leave.  If that happens you may be sent a bill for the missed appointment.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
Kindly give 24 hours notice to avoid a $20 cancellation fee.  The notice helps the therapist find someone else to fill your time slot.  No shows will be billed for their missed appointment.
